Testimonials
"I loved the days I spent at Explorers Lodge - a large B&B that also has a self catering unit. It is a comfortable attractive house set in lovely gardens in a wooded area of New Norfolk, right near the Derwent River. It is well run by its friendly and knowledgeable hosts, Liz and NIgel, and it is well situated for visiting attractions in the area.
Hobart is about half an hour away and its harbour area, and museum are worth seeing.
A bit further away, but still possible for a day trip is Port Arthur with its well told story of convict times,
In the other direction is the historic town of Richmond which is well worth visiting.
But, best of all, for me, was the nearby Mount Field National Park, with its wonderful walks through rain forests and around lakes etc, I visited twice and on one occasion was lucky enough to watch a platypus going about its business, diving and swimming about.
The town of New Norfolk is also worth exploring.
I was sorry not to have been able to stay for much longer and can recommend it to anyone interested in the history of the area or wildlife and forests, or simply spend time relaxing at the lodge in the garden if the weather is good or in the comfortable sunroom with its books, music player and TV."
